TEVEKKUL — CONTENT AND SOURCES STATEMENT

Effective date: 28 August 2026

1. PURPOSE

This document explains the sources of the religious content in the Tevekkul app and the methods used in its calculations. Our aim is to make clear where every piece of information the user sees comes from.

2. PRAYER TIMES

Prayer times are calculated entirely on your device and require no internet connection. The calculation uses the open-source "adhan" library.

Supported calculation methods:

  • Presidency of Religious Affairs of Türkiye (Diyanet) — default
  • Muslim World League
  • Egyptian General Authority of Survey
  • Umm al-Qura University (Makkah)
  • University of Islamic Sciences, Karachi

The selected school of law is taken into account when calculating the Asr prayer. The Hanafi school uses a shadow length of twice the object's height; the Shafi school uses one times. The default is Hanafi.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: The calculated times may differ by a few minutes from the official calendar of your local religious authority. Differences in altitude, horizon correction and local administrative decisions account for this. When in doubt, we recommend relying on the official calendar.

3. HIJRI CALENDAR

The Hijri date is calculated using a tabular (Kuwaiti) algorithm. This method is based on astronomical calculation and may differ by one day from official announcements that rely on actual sighting of the crescent moon.

For this reason, the Settings section includes an adjustment option that lets you shift the Hijri date forward or backward by one day.

4. SUPPLICATION TEXTS

Supplications are presented with their Arabic originals, transliterations and Turkish translations. The source of each supplication is stated clearly at the bottom of its detail screen.

Sources used:

  • The Qur'an (with surah and verse number)
  • Sahih al-Bukhari
  • Sahih Muslim
  • Sunan at-Tirmidhi
  • Sunan Abi Dawud

Turkish translations are compiled from widely accepted translations, primarily that of the Presidency of Religious Affairs.

5. DHIKR TEXTS

The dhikr entries in the App consist of well-known formulas found in the hadith sources: Subhanallah, Alhamdulillah, Allahu Akbar, La ilaha illallah and Astaghfirullah.

The default targets (33, 33, 34, 100) follow the tradition of tasbih after prayer. These targets are not binding and may be changed by the user.

6. QIBLA DIRECTION

The qibla direction is found by calculating the great-circle bearing between your device's location and the coordinates of the Kaaba (21.4225° N, 39.8262° E). The direction indicator uses the device magnetometer and can be affected by magnetic interference. For an accurate reading, we recommend calibrating the compass by moving your device in a figure-eight motion.

7. RELIGIOUS RESPONSIBILITY

Tevekkul is an assistive tool and is not a source of religious rulings. None of the information in the App constitutes a fatwa.

The App is not an official product of any school of law, community or institution, and has no affiliation with any such body. For rulings concerning your acts of worship, we recommend consulting qualified religious authorities.

8. REPORTING ERRORS

If you find an error, omission or incorrect source in the content, please report it to support@tevekkul.app. We review every report carefully and publish corrections as soon as possible.

9. OPEN SOURCE COMPONENTS

The App uses the following open source components:

  • adhan (MIT License) — prayer time calculation
  • React Native and Expo (MIT License) — application framework
  • dayjs (MIT License) — date handling
